Christmas Tag #3

Tim Holtz Tag #3

Tim went back to one of my favorite techniques for tag #3 this year.  He used Cut and Dry Foam by Ranger, Archival ink and Distress re-inkers to make a custom stamp pad. I love doing this and when I saw this particular stamp when on his cruise this fall, I knew I had to have it because it would be perfect for this particular technique.  Who knew he would use it on the 12 tags.  Now as far as running the tag through the Vagabond with the embossing folder--I'll have to work on it.  Mine was a little off kilter.

So if you missed Tim's tag you can find it here:

Now here is my tag.

Tim Holtz Tag #2

Tim Holtz Tag #2

Tag #2 may be all I can get done today.  I have to go get some Christmas shopping done. So I thought I would be a posting done early before I leave on this dreary December morning.  Tim Holtz's tag used wonderful kraft resist paper which I absolute LOVE!!! You can see Tim's tag here:

Now I had to order some kraft resist which is what put me behind on doing the twelve tags.  I have looked for the holiday kraft resist everywhere but come up empty.  Originally I tried to create my own kraft resist with some embossing powder and Tim stamps.  It did not work as well as I wanted it to so  I just waited for my online order to arrive.

When making tag #2, I made several changes some due to not having the product and some due to creative differences.  The changes are as follows:

  1. I did not use the large reindeer --because I didn't have it and when I placed my online order I forgot to add them to it.  (Oops)
  2. When I made the small reindeer I used some glittery paper rather than sticky back canvas because it was sitting on my desk (oh who am I kidding) it was on the floor beside the Vagabond. And I thought it would look good.
  3. For the bottom trim, I had some pre-cut chipboard by Little Yellow Bicycle that worked out perfect.
  4. When looking around my studio, I saw some liquid pearls, I have honestly never really used these. However, I picked up some up a few weeks ago when gearing up for the 12 tags and now that I've used them--I LOVE them. So I took the chance to use them rather than the brads.
Hope you like my tag!!! See you soon for tag #3.

Tim Holtz Tag 1

Tim Holtz Tag 1

Well several days after Tim Holtz -- master of all talents has started and I have to say finished his tags. I finally have Tag 1 finished and now I'm finally ready to post it. Now if you have been living under a rock or something and missed Tim's original post for Tag one you can find it here  Tim_Tag_1 Now I wanted to make my tag a little different so I used a rose colored kraft core paper rather than the ice blue.  The other main difference that my tag had was when I made my Noel I used a black foam craft piece and painted it silver and covered it with glitter.  This added a lot of dimension to my tag.  The dimension is hard to see by the picture but its really cool.  See you soon for Tag 2.

Christmas with the 7 Gyspies

I have been trying to get this 7 Gypsies tray posted for about 2 weeks now and when I saw Simon Says Challenge yesterday I thought what a perfect time to do it.  I love to work on projects like these because they don't take very long and I  feel like I've done something each time I complete one of the squares.  I found the Santa in the Sleigh last year after Christmas and fell in love-- of course I had to wait until this year to put in on the tray.  I wasn 't sure if he was going on the bottom of a project or a scrapbook page. Project wins.  I took several pieces from Graphic 45 Christmas Past Collection and sparkled them up with glossy accents and stickles.  Of course, no project would be complete without a little Tim Holtz in there.  I used the mica flakes paper from the seasonal pack and made a pocket watch.  The pocket watch fits quite nicely with Simon Says portion of the challenge...looking through the looking glass--don't you think???  If you want to see the Simon Says Challenge info make sure you check it out here.

Hope you like it as much as I had fun making it. Thanks for stopping by.
