A Little Bit of Vintage Style

Ingredients:

1.    Red plaid tissue paper
2.    Various Graphic 45 Fashionista paper
3.    District Market Tissue Wrap
4.    Distress Inks: Fired Brick and Vintage Photo
5.    Ideology Tissue Tape
6.    Black Craft Foam
7.    Core'dinations Kraft Core Paper
8.    Ideology Kraft Resist Chipboard Letters
9.    Jute
10.  Faber-Castell Gelatos : Blue Metallic and White Metallic
11.  Ideology Frame Corners
12.  Rangers Glue and Seal
13.  Water in a Mister
14.   Blank Canvas 8X10
15.   Sizzix Tim Holtz Dress Form Die Cut and Machine to cut with (Vagabond is my choice)

Directions:

1.    Tear the tissue paper, Fashionista paper, tissue wrap and find a pattern that you find suitable to you.  Once you are happy with the pattern start glueing it down with Rangers Glue and Seal.  Set it aside to dry.

2.    Take out your die cut machine and get ready, this may not be an easy step because even with the power of the Vagabond its not the easiest in the world.  Sandwich your plates, die cut and craft foam together and run it through your machine.  I did try this several times to make several buttons but did not end up using them so I may use them at a later date.  Never throw anything away.  Repeat step with Kraft Core Paper.

3.    Sand Kraft Core Paper to your liking and glue together with craft foam.  This will give the dress form a lot of dimension and a little depth since it is black.  Set aside and allow to dry. Repeat with button and thread. Add jute to thread.

4.  Cut out Fashionista cards and decide how many and which ones you like and would like to use. This may prove to be the hardest part.  I know I said before pushing the craft foam through the Vagabond was hard but Really??? Isn't this paper beautiful??? LOVE it!!!  Once you have made your decision cut them out and distress them with Fire Brick Red.  I splashed a little water on mine as well to give it a little more distress and weathered look.  I then added a little Vintage Photo to give them a littlle more depth. Set these aside.

5.  Decide what you would like to say up the side of you canvas, the only obvious choice to me was "Style".  Of course, you may be more poetic than I am or want your name or something on there. So remove the letters from there package and distress away.  I find it best that you take a soft towel and wipe the resist area once you are done so it looks crisp. Once the letters are ready, glue them to the canvas.

6.    Now comes the fun in my opinion, take out your Gelatos and just go crazy.  You can do anything you want with them: put them on your craft sheet and paint them whereever you see fit or like I did just color all over the canvas then mist the heck out of the canvas and work it until you are happy. I am loving these and I seem to be using them a lot lately.  Remember to dry your canvas with your heat gun every now and again so it doesn't get too wet. 

7.    Add tissue tape around the edges of the canvas.

8.    Place everything on canvas in a pleasing manner. Once you are happy--glue it down.

9.    Add corner.

Olde To Tim

While many of us follow Tim, I have had the distinct pleasure to take several class with him over the last two years.  As Linda posted in her blog, he is truly amazing and can fill the room with so much excitement about this wonderful craft it will take your breath away.  At times, I think it takes his breath away. So when I saw this weeks Grungy Monday Challenge, I thought it might be fun to get inky but had to put some thought into it.  How do you celebrate THE MAN????  I mean really??? THE MAN??? How???


Well when I thought about it, I thought I would merge his world and mine. Hearing him speak several times, I have heard him say more than once -- "he is living the dream."  Man, what a dream it is.  How many of us would love to get on that boat and ride along for just one day??? I know I would-- AMAZING.  And we all have to remember life is short-- it passes us by before we know it.  I watched my mother pass away at a very young age and it reminds me to live life to its fullest.  So I ask myself-- am I doing everything I can to really LIVE life everyday???  So I added a perfect Tim stamp quote on shrink plastic "Life is what happens while we are making other plans."   Thank you Tim-- I am no longer making plans, I am doing it.  I have attached this to Tim's stamp "Pierre LM Gaudette Druggist" because I am a pharmacist by day (or night I guess I should say.)

And lastly I added an Ideology heart that I added some gold alcohol ink to represent Tim's heart of gold.  When he is talking about his work, you can see how much he loves what he does--why else would he put up with all the fans.  This man must never sleep.  Thanks for keeping us all inspired and helping me find my way.  Now, I can keep this in my bedroom and see it everyday to keep me inspired to work a little bit everyday to reach the goals that I am working toward.
